I remember John Haven as the original "car guy" in High School.  Would street race anyone, anywhere.  I remember John driving his '33 Willys to our 40th reunion and I parked him in front of the old VFW hall where

our event was held.  I was truly looking forward to showing John my new ride this year in October.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing.  I too was in Vietnam in 1967.  He will truly be remember by all of us at Edgewood

John was a one of a kind.  He was so into his "ride."  He loved to talk car lingo.  He was a brillant machnic and could fix any car, including my 1956 Chevy.  Thank goodness he was always willing to lend a helping hand.  John was so full of life.  We have lost one of the really wonderful Trojans.  He will be missed and remembered at our 50th Reunion in Oct.  We can all picture "Big" John working on all of our cars. Rest in peace our friend.

I used to hang with John a lot, I thought it was funny when he put a truck straight axle front end under his 56 Chevy to transfer more weight to the rear end. It's funny how years later it became a thing to do. When  that didn't make his car fast enough he took a 3/4 inch drill and drilled holes in his frame everywhere he could to lighten the car. He was a true innovator.

I was so unhappy to read about my old friend John Haven. In 7th grade we "went together" which entailed nothing more than just kinda liking each other. So handsome with his blue blue eyes and such a neat guy. I was looking forward to seeing him again and hearing about his family. So sorry. Sharyn Oberly Mello

It was sad to hear about John Haven,  John was in my neighbor hood along with other memorable Trojans: Art Jimenez and Ken Valencia.  John lived two houses down from me and Art and his Sister Irene Hernandez and Bother Gabby Hernandez lived next door.  It fun times growing up with those guys and the memories are golden!   John was forever working on a car in front of his house and if I recall correctly he had two sisters, one was named Ricky (I think).  Anyway, a person only truly dies when no one remembers them and I still do and judging by the posts, so do numerous others!  We were so lucky and blessed to have lived during such great times!  Green Gold and White and those I shared it with will all be remembered,

Thanks,

Chris Keena
