Larry Fritz

Larry Fritz here...Warren and I were very close friends all through scouts, second grade and High School. Warren was a perfectionist at everything. He played little league baseball,High School basketball, tennis and was editor of  the school year book.Warren had the best writing and printing I ever saw.  We went separate ways after EHS.  I went to Mt. SAC, Warren went North to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Ca.

When I finished Mt. "BAG", I hadn't yet selected a college.  Warren called me from San Luis Obispo, and invited me to come up to Cal Poly to check out the campus.  Warren had joined a Fraternity,Delta Sigma Phi.  As soon as I arrived in San Luis Obispo, I went into shock because it was a very small town.  It took time to get the lay of the land, thanks again to Warren.  He had taken a position in the house, and he was so well respected.  Warren was elected President of Cal Poly student body.  He was so very talented. He did so much on Campus and with the  D.S.P. Fraternity of which I became a member. After graduating, Warren took several high power jobs in the bay area.  I called him from San Luis Obispo to come to Solvang where we were living.  He stayed with us for a few days, and was a big help to Liz and me.  It gave us some time to step away from the business for a day or two.

You all knew Warren, like I did, so, please take some time to remember him.  Post any memories you may have for ONE OF THE GREATEST OF EHS TROJANS.

EHS Christmas Ball 1962Warren was my best friend and date for the Christmas Ball.  He had an early Birthday so was one of the few in our grade that was sixteen already with a CDL.  I'll never forget him driving his Mom's Edsel ! He was a great guy with a personality to match. We were lucky to know him and his family in West Covina. Think about him often.  Thank you Larry for such a nice rememberence

Dear Larry and Mary,

The soft and individual words you both wrote about Warren were very touching, and even though Warren and I were not real close, there was always a smile or a hello during our daily strolls around the outdoor halls of EHS. And for that fact, I wish I could step back in time and have spent more quality time with Warren, as he will always be remembered as an outstanding -  first class individual, who led from the front and graduated with each of us in 1965.

Warren Burgess and I lived in the same block in West Covina when we were in grammar school, so we all part of the neighborhood band of kids who played together.  His Dad, Stan, was very friendly, and all of the neighborhood kids were fond of him.  I remember viewing the "constellations" on the ceiling in Warren's house--a light show set up by Stan for all of us--we thought this was terrific!  Warren (nickname in the early years was "Butchy") was always so kind and friendly to me.  I recall that he asked me not to call him by his nickname anymore when we reached High School (should have thought of that on my own!).  Later, following the 20 year reunion, he suprised my husband and I with a visit.  We were living in San Diego; I probably invited Warren to stop in for a visit when I saw him at the reunion--and he did just that!  He had just changed jobs, I think (my memory may fail me here), and was moving from a large company to a small one, where he felt he would fit in better.  I don't think he was with his wife at that time.  As a adult, it appeared that he never lost his good qualities:   he was a gentle, smart and kind man.  I am so sorry that he is no longer with us.
